Naked Castle
Naked Castle is a signage system designed for a historic castle hotel on Moganshan. The design pairs a coat of arms with Art Deco lettering, and the geometric figures and lines follow proportions close to the golden ratio. British elements such as a hoof, a shield and a streamer are merged in the coat of arms, while icons of a king and a queen wearing crowns appear on the signs. The coat of arms was cast in low melting point metal, then hand polished and colored. The signs use forged iron and local wood to resist the outdoor mountain climate.
Naked Castle Visual Signage System by Zesion Design has been identified as an outstanding example of communication design by the A' Design Award. Naked Castle Visual Signage System was awarded the Iron A' Design Award in Graphics, Illustration and Visual Communication Design in 2020. The A' Graphics, Illustration and Visual Communication Design Award is a juried, academic and highly prestigious design prize that recognizes outstanding design of logos, posters, infographics, brochures, packaging designs, business cards, book covers, billboards and more.
