Flowers
Flowers is a pattern design series inspired by the kaleidoscope and the theme of One Belt, One Road. The series consists of three artworks. Each artwork shows one important node of the ancient Silk Road through color and structure: mosque domes, European domes and Chinese domes. Kaleidoscopic graphic structures are combined with dome forms to create a symmetrical layout. The patterns were made by hand sketching and digital illustration software. Colors were extracted from images of the cultural styles represented. The three works differ from each other but share one theme.
Flowers Pattern Design by Yiming Ma was identified as an exceptional representation of communication design by the A' Design Award. Flowers Pattern Design received the Iron A' Design Award in Graphics, Illustration and Visual Communication Design in 2023. The A' Graphics, Illustration and Visual Communication Design Award is a juried, academic and highly prestigious design recognition program that rewards exceptional design of logos, posters, infographics, brochures, packaging designs, business cards, book covers, billboards and more.
